I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the future of artificial intelligence (AI). And, although what you’re thinking about is totally up to you, I encourage you to pause and take a moment to reflect upon the future of AI.

What prompted these thoughts? Recent quotes by Larry Summers, the previous U.S. Treasury secretary and a board member of OpenAI.

Here’s what Summers said about AI:

“If one takes a view over the next generation, [AI] could be the biggest thing that has happened in economic history since the Industrial Revolution…this offers the prospect of not replacing some forms of human labor, but almost all forms of human labor.”

I’m not one of those naysayers who believes that AI will become too powerful and take over the world. I mean, have you taken a look at OpenAI’s ChatGPT recently? It’s not quite at human status—or even close—yet.

Do I think, though, that Summers is right when he says that AI “could be the biggest thing that has happened in economic history since the Industrial Revolution?” Yes, I think he might be on to something there. AI is bigger than many of us realize. It’s progressing…
