I've had these same feelings. What I've noticed on Medium is that the vast majority of readers are positive and encouraging. There might be a few negative readers from time to time, but I like to think that it's better to receive engagement (whether positive or negative) then no engagement at all! If you do receive negative comments on an article, then it probably means your article has received many views!
