An open question…

March marks four years since I became a member of Medium, this wonderful platform of ideas, stories, lessons, reflections, and essays.

In the past four years, I’ve seen this platform change and evolve. It’s gone through many iterations — some good and some bad — but, for the most part, it’s still the same platform I joined four years ago.

But now, as I consider renewing my membership for another year, I’m left with a question.

What does the future of Medium look like?

I’d love to hear your open, honest thoughts.

I’ve talked to other writers who have left the platform in the last year. In their minds, Medium is going downhill. It’s been inundated with bots. Writing quality has deteriorated. It’s all clickbait. Creativity has disappeared. Copying or plagiarism is rampant.

But I’ve talked to other writers who believe that the platform is going in the right direction. More writers are joining than ever before. There’s more room for creativity. Engagement is higher. The payouts are better.

So what do you think? Where do you think Medium is going?
